TENDARMADA

O curso de 3.º ano de Animação e Produção Artística da ESEB vem por este
meio divulgar o evento tendArmada – vem integrArte em APA, a realizar na
Escola Superior de Educação de Bragança, no dia 14 de Junho de 2012. Por um
lado, o objetivo deste evento é dinamizar workshops de fotografia e vídeo,
entre outros, que permitirão a criação autónoma de projetos no âmbito da
animação e produção artística e outras atividades no âmbito das artes
visuais, expressão dramática e música, e pelo outro, permitir a mostra
artística proposta pelos alunos de APA. O evento realizar-se-á na Escola
Superior de Educação (sala de estudo, sala 0.50 de Drama e jardins da ESEB),
no dia 14 de Junho de 2012.

CONTEST REGULATION

Introduction
1 - This document aims at regulating the activity "English Experts” which will be part of the Intercultural Language Week, held from 2nd to 9th June 2012 at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança. The activity is organized by the students of the 2nd year of Technical English II, Degree in Languages for International Relations.
2 - The activity aims particularly at students of both Degrees, Languages for International Relations and Foreign Languages: English and Spanish, but it is open to all students of the IPB.
3 - The activity will take the format of a contest or competition and it will be played with 8 teams of 3 members each. Registration is required to those who want to participate in the contest. The registration forms will be available to the academic community via online (http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/472648_3783282113506_1620576873_33047140_1449172198_o.jpg) or with any student of Languages for International Relations, 2nd year. Registration forms must be delivered until 5 pm of June 1st.
4 - The contest will be held in the Auditorium of the School of Education at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança.
5 - The contest will start at 2,30 pm. Each team must be in the auditorium 15 minutes before the scheduled time for the beginning of the contest, which will last about two hours. Any team not present in the scheduled time will be excluded.
6 - The contest will be held entirely in English: presentation, involvement of participants, questions and answers given.
General rules
1 - The competition consists in a set of general culture questions on several topics from various countries with English as the official language.n
2 - The countries covered by the questions are: England, Scotland, Canada, New Zealand, Wales, Northern Ireland, South Africa, United States of America, Republic of Ireland and Australia.
3 - The themes covered by the questions are: Curiosities (traditions, festivities, etc.) Geography (rivers, capitals, mountains, monuments, states, bridges, universities, etc.), General Culture (music, movies, TV), Sports (athletes, teams, etc.), Personalities (artists, writers, etc.), Gastronomy, Politics and History, Literature, Language.
4 - All responses, in addition to having to be answered orally, will also have to be written.
5 - The contest is organized in 3 stages and it starts with a group of 8 teams. In each stage, the teams with the lowest scores will be eliminated and only four teams go on to Stage 2; of these, only 2 teams go on to Stage 3 / Final. Stage 3/ Final will have two rounds.

Composition and number of teams
1 - The contest is to be played among a maximum of 8 teams. The selection of the teams will be made by order of registration (see Introduction - 3)
2- Each team has 3 elements of which one must be elected as spokesperson. The name of the team must necessarily be in English.
3 - Each team must have a sponsor, namely a lecturer at the IPB, whose mission is to help the team. The team can query the lecturer for an answer at any stage of the contest but they must bear in mind that the sponsor’s help may be required/given only once.
Rules
Stage 1 - Level of difficulty - Easy
In this stage, the 8 teams will be competing against each other, having to answer 20 random questions, without the possibility of choosing the theme.
Questions will be posed to all teams at the same time; the teams have 5 seconds to answer each question.
4 optional answers are given, from which the teams choose only one.
Each correct answer is worth 10 points.
The 4 teams with the highest scores will proceed to the next phase.
Stage 2 - Level of difficulty - Medium / Hard
In this phase, the 4 teams play against each other according to the scheme: AB, CD, AC, AD, BD, CB, in a total of 6 games and 30 questions.
The questions are thematic and the teams are informed about the theme of each question.
Each game will have a set of 5 questions. The teams have 10 seconds to answer the set.
Each correct answer is worth 10 points.
In case of any spelling errors, there is a loss of 5 points.
The 2 teams with the highest scores will proceed to the last stage.
Stage 3 - Level of difficulty - Hard / Very Hard
In this last stage, the two finalist teams will have to play 2 rounds. The points will be cumulative from the first to the second round. The teams will have to answer a total of 15 questions.
On the first round, the team that scored more points in the previous stage chooses a theme (see General Conditions, paragraph 3), which will have to be answered by both finalist teams. It consists of a set of 5 questions to be answered in 15 seconds. When the time is up, the other team chooses a theme and the round is repeated.
For each correct answer the teams score 10 points.
On the second round, the finalist teams will have to answer a questionnaire with 5 questions.
Each correct answer is worth 20 points.
The teams will have 3 minutes to answer the questionnaire.
In both rounds, spelling errors will imply a loss of 5 points per answer.
Scoring system
Points are not cumulative from one stage to another.
The score for each stage is made clear in the above explanation of how each stage works. (See Rules)
Tie
In case of a tie, the teams will have to answer another question, such as "When was the Big Ben built?” The team, whose answer is closer to the correct response, wins the contest.
Logistics and human resources
The contest will be presented by six hosts, two for each stage.
One person will be in charge of controlling the time - stopwatch.
One person will be in charge of adding the scores.
Two people will be in charge of displaying the PowerPoint with the questions and of the sound/background music.
Each team will have an assistant.
All the necessary equipment for the competition will be provided by the organization staff.
Final Provisions
Any situation not regulated here, will be decided by the organization staff.
It is demanded from the participants a strict respect for the rules and fair play.
The organization staff declines responsibility for any damage during the course of the activity or for any injury done to the participants.
The winning team will receive a symbolic prize.
